The most important thing to remember in looking after your waterproof golf clothing is to take them out of your bag after wearing them out on the golf course, and clean and dry them thoroughly.

Wet and muddy clothing left in a golf bag will result in deterioration of the garments, not to mention an unpleasant smell the next time you open the bag.

Ordinary washing detergents aren’t suitable for washing such garments as it can ruin the waterproofing, non-detergent products or natural soap flakes are recommended. After a while clothing can start to lose its water repellency and the water will start to soak into the material instead of rolling off, known as soaking or wetting out. This means that you may have to re-waterproof them at some point.

To check if the garment needs re-waterproofing, spray on some water and if it beads (little balls of water) and runs off then it should be OK, if not it needs re-proofing.
